What is PrEP?

PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) is medicine people at risk for HIV take to prevent getting HIV from sex or injection drug use. When taken as prescribed, PrEP is highly effective for preventing HIV. (CDC)

What is Sexual Health?

Sexual health is a state of physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being in relation to sexuality and is an important part of overall health.

Treatment and prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STI) is essential for overall health and wellbeing. At Kirk's Pharmacy, we want to be accessible to all patients in a safe and inclusive environment. Our clinical pharmacists are available by appointment for STI testing, HIV prevention counseling, and PrEP therapy. (CDC)

Could You Be At Risk?

Be aware

Young people are the most likely to be unaware of their infection. According to a CDC analysis, in 2018 an estimated 44.9% of young people aged 13-24 who were living with HIV were unaware of their infection.

How is it spread?

HIV is most commonly spread by having sex or sharing syringes and other injection equipment with someone who is infected with HIV. Certain sexual or behavioral practices can increase your risk of HIV.

Should I get tested?

EVERYONE should be tested for HIV at least once in their lifetime and other STIs at least every 3 months to a year while sexually active, especially when any sexual partner is of unknown STI status.
